Ahoy from the land-locked crew of the BlueJacket,
We're currently in a holding pattern waiting to see if we'll
be able to do our planned cruising, and as a result I've had some
spare time on my hands. Given this extra time I decided to implement what's
known as RSS for my web site. If you're like most people, you've
probably never heard of RSS, but it's a pretty cool technology.
The acronym RSS has multiple definitions, but one of the most
common translations is Real Simple Syndication...

Happy New Year from the crew of the BlueJacket!
We hope that everyone had a
wonderful 2007 and we hope that 2008 will be even better.
I've been remiss in writing to let people know what we've
been up to since we arrived in Deltaville, VA with
BlueJacket. We decided that we're going to do
something very unique (for us) as we're going to head NORTH
this upcoming season and we'll spend the winter at home,
outside of Boston. As a result we had to winterize
the boat as she's going to be in freezing...

We've been quite busy since I last wrote. We pulled into Dozier's Regatta Point Marina in Deltaville, VA on June 29th and we've been working our tails off since then. We relaxed for part of a day and then began the lengthy process of putting the boat away for the season. We have a long list of things that need to be done and we've gotten quite good at it, but it still takes a long time. Every filter needs to be changed, every system needs a through inspection, sails need to be removed and stored or repa...

We're currently docked in Norfolk, VA which is the start of the ICW. We're currently at mile marker 0.4, so once we pull out of the marina we'll quickly pass that illusive mile marker 0. All along the ICW mile marker signs are posted and you slowly watch them change. Seeing the buoy marking MM 0 will be very nice. Then it's only 50 miles to Deltaville.
I must admit that the past few days on the ICW have blurred together as it's been non-stop moving. Quite often we've been ...

Yesterday we pulled into the Dowery Creek marina where we managed to scrape the paint off of two places on the boat due to the incompetence of the staff. When were pulling in we had 15-20 kts of wind on from the port-stern, which meant that we had a wind pushing us sideways and towards the dock. You have to tie up to pilings here, so that made this tricky. However, there shouldn't have been any problems, had the staff known what they were doing.

We're anchored just north of Georgetown, SC in what you could call a wide spot on the Waccamaw River and I just watched an absolutely wonderful start to the day. I woke up a little before 6 and laid there listening to the sounds of the nature waking up. I got up and sat up on the deck to fully enjoy the beauty of where we were.
